I'm starting at the Recurse Center today and I'll be here for the next 12 weeks. My goal for today was to set up this website so that I have a publicly accessible place to share what I'm working on.
I tried not to overthink this. As of right now I'm writing the HTML by hand and I have a simple script to bundle everything into a directory. I set up Netlify to grab the changes from GitHub, run the script and serve the resulting directory. I chose Netlify because I've used it before, it's free (up to a certain bandwidth limit), and it replicates my site contents to a CDN so folks can load the site fast from anywhere in the world.
For now I'm not serving any JS or CSS so as to minimize rendering time and network usage.
I've had this domain registered for a few years, but never got around to serving anything from it. I think it's about time to start!
